Columbia's Formaldehyde-free Lyptus Hardwood Plywood Named A Finalist In "Best of Year" Product Design Competition
Greensboro, NC - Columbia Forest Products has teamed up with Weyerhaeuser to deliver a new range of exclusive looks featuring one of the most exciting veneers on the market. Introducing Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood with PureBond® formaldehyde-free technology.
The collection begins with twelve custom-composed veneer faces arranged by color and available in rustic, clear and butcher block looks. All are offered in long plank and short plank options, and offer a new level of design flexibility with added fabrication and finishing benefits.
Product Design Accolades
The Lyptus collection was named a "Finalist" in the Innovations Category of the Interior Design magazine's "Best of Year" product design award this past December.
Visual Success Through Design
These Lyptus veneer faces are composed "tight side out," which assures easy and consistent finishing, free from the "barber pole" effect that can occur with book matched veneer.
These premium lumber-look Lyptus designs were hand-selected to provide an additional assurance of visual success. The natural graining characteristics are randomly distributed throughout the panel faces - a feature we call "consistent inconsistency."
This enables components cut from one or more separate panels to harmoniously blend together when mixed in a finished project. No more shop waste due to "forced" matching of doors, for example. And an easier time down the road if replacements or additions are required.
In addition, traditional quarter sawn and plain sliced Lyptus veneers are also available, to round out the collection.
Indoor Environmental Benefits
But don't forget - what you can't see matters, too. This includes the soy-based, formaldehyde-free PureBond® technology we use to make Lyptus hardwood plywood. It's a good idea for the Columbia Forest Products mills, in fabrication shops and in their customers' interiors.
